THE LOVELY BLOGGER AWARD

Last week I was nominated for two blog awards (awwww) and I decided to pop them both in the one post… so be prepared to update your blog reader subscriptions!

It’s so nice for someone to nominate you for a blog award, after all we all sit typing away in our little homes all around the world and it’s amazing to think that we connect with so many people in so many different ways. I sometimes wonder if my little random thoughts, views, projects and ideas might just fly off my fingers, onto my keyboard and disappear forever. However there are people out there, reading and connecting – it’s quite amazing isn’t it?

I always find these posts fascinating on other blogs – as I invariably end up adding yet more blogs to my blog reader, which is the point of them – but it is always fun to discover another blog, another person, another unique outlook on life.

THE LOVELY BLOGGER AWARD

Last week Boomdeeadda nominated me for The Lovely Blogger Award. She writes lovely frequent posts about her home town, art, retro stuff, lovely blog!

Here are the rules for the One Lovely Blog Award:

Thank the person who nominated you and link back to him/her in your post.

  1. Share 7 things about yourself.
  2. Nominate 15 bloggers you admire.
  3. Leave a comment on each of these blogs letting them know theyโ€™ve been nominated.

7 things about me… hardly fascinating but here you go…

  1. I was once a craft magazine editor. I can patchwork, quilt, make teddy bears (the sort with moveable legs and sculpted faces), folk art, embroider, knit, crochet – you name it really… I’m a confirmed lifetime crafting tragic.
  2. As a child, I played the recorder, clarinet, trumpet, cornet (my favourite), flirted with the tenor horn, kinda played the piano (self taught) and sang.
  3. Despite all of the above, I really wish I could play the guitar.
  4. My husband is nearly 14 inches taller than me.
  5. My personality type is ENTJ. I was in complete denial and took the test twice… maybe three… apparently the test is right 1) bogus or 2) completely correct. You have been warned ๐Ÿ™‚
  6. To finish off the personality types, I am a triple whammy… I’m also a Scorpio and was born in the Chinese Year of the Tiger. I’m not a big believer in horoscopes but those that are will probably have already backed away and started running. *sigh* I cracked 130 blog followers last week… looks like I’m in for a plummet in subscribers…
  7. I can’t stand the smell or taste of tuna. Walnuts also make my skin crawl – not in an allergic way – I just can’t stand the taste. Yup, I’m weird.

15 Lovely Blogs (I found it very hard to pick 15 – I wanted to put everybody up as I love every blog I read!). So I decided to share Aussie blogs as we have a much smaller sewing community so it’s nice to connect up with each other and the rest of the world… hello to my Aussie mates…

  1. Sew Squirrel: Sarah also has a fledging business which has totally enabled me to sew indie patterns without massive shipping costs! Love!
  2. Suzy Bee Sews – a pants-making machine until lately when she got bitten by the bra-making bug.
  3. Bimble & Pimble – HILARIOUS
  4. All the Whimsical Things – sweetiepie and gorgeous dresses
  5. Seamstress poppykettle – amazing FOs
  6. My Messings – stitcher/knitter/gardener – and Social Sewing Day organiser
  7. Bella’s Collectanea of Sewing – another Melbourne stitcher/blogger – is there something in the water down there?
  8. ScaredStitchless: great nerdy sewing humour!
  9. Sew {MM}: A SAHM and stitcher!
  10. Rocket Sews: tucked away in Tassie – where I was recently!
  11. Busy Lizzie in Brissy
  12. Tropical Threads
  13. Zo Sews
  14. Sew Brunswick
  15. Pretty Grievances Anne is not an Aussie but I think her sense of humour qualifies her as an honorary Aussie. G’day Anne ๐Ÿ™‚

There are more Aussies out there (including our rock stars of the Aussie Sewing Blog World – theperfectnose, 3HoursPast & Handmade by Carolyn (when I grow up I wanna be a clever and stylish as Carolyn) but I think everyone knows who they are!

LIEBSTER Blog

Kim-ing nominated me for the Libester Blog Award – thanks Kim! Liebster is a German word meaning dearest, and the award is given to up-and-coming bloggers with less than 200 followers who deserve some recognition and support to keep on blogging.

Kim is a great blogger and her output is prolific! She’s recently stitched up a bombshell and three Banksias!! And she also taken our her crochet hook again…

Here are the Liebster Blog Award Rules

1. Add the award icon to your blog! Done, on this post, I need to figure out the sidebar thing… one day when I have 5 spare minutes…

2. Link to your nominator to say โ€žthank youโ€œ –Thank you Kim! Your posts and comments always make me smile!

3. Nominate 5 blogger with less than 200 followers. โ€“ It’s very tricky to tell which blogs have less than 200 followers. You can look it up on Google Reader but this doesn’t give a true picture of the actual numbers. Mine is much higher than Reader suggests. So I think I’ve chosen some smaller bloggers who I really enjoy both as commenters and bloggers who I think more people should follow… you can never have too many nice people in your life, real or virtual…

  1. The Very Best Jumper: thoughtful posts
  2. Sylkotwist: Lovely, just lovely.
  3. Mystitchnbitch – a cool gal.
  4. Almondrock – lovely Twitter friend ๐Ÿ™‚
  5. Crafting a Rainbow: a sweetheart
  6. MariaDenmark – Wool & Weeds: I really admire people who follow their dreams and Maria of Denmark is one of them!

oops that’s six (but I just has to fit in Maria somehow!). Oh well!

Sorry if you werenโ€™t included maybe but I need to be nominated for a Blog Award where I can include 100 people – because you are all fabulous (and you Rachel 3>;;). And if you aren’t in the above list – shout out in the comments – that’s how I discover new blogs ๐Ÿ™‚

BTW if you haven’t heard from me in your blog posts lately…. I updated my iPhone software – worst decision ever. I can’t comment on anything other than WordPress blogs via my WordPress app. So I have to sit at a computer – I can’t do that at work so I end up starting at 9pm and that’s too late. Sorry peeps, I will get it sorted out soon.

And to be honest, life has been really tough lately and I’ve felt rather introverted despite my clearly terminal ENTJ personality diagnosis. I love people, but some people make me feel sad and disappointed in humanity ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

When I am feeling cheerier and can write some more in my usual nonense style… I got some awesome parcels in the mail this week. You know who you are – thank you!

  1. Congrats! ๐Ÿ˜€ So many lovely nominations! ๐Ÿ˜› Also thanks for the list of Aussie bloggers! I do know most of them but added a couple more now! ๐Ÿ˜€
Wow love all the facts! SO musical! That is amazing!
I am sorry to hear that you are having a tough time but do hope it picks up again soon! HUGS! ๐Ÿ™‚
I can sympathize with your feelings about humanity though, but hope you got some comfort from us online peeps! ๐Ÿ™‚

      • u must have mad time management skills having done all these things!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ yeah I like sometimes just seeing peoples convos and being nice to each other! it is a great tool to read nice good night stories and then have nice happy dreams ๐Ÿ˜›

  2. :-O
    You are too cute. Thanks!
I don’t like the idea that you’re not a happy lady right now though. I like to use sewing and nice people as a salve for the horrible people.
Like at work when I have to deal with mean people I make sure I talk to someone nice in the office as soon as possible afterwards. Or when someone tries to walk through me on the street like I don’t exist during my commute, I jump straight on twitter or blogs for happy sewing talk. Really helps me! Hope things perk up for you soon though.
    xx

  3. Congratulations! Hope life is more fun soon…

Great to see your list of fellow Aussie bloggers – I know most, but a few look new to me. I will be interested to see if anyone else is in Sydney!

Oh and btw, Scorpios rock! (We’re not scary at all really, are we?)

  4. Thanks for the mention! It is always nice to see a list of Aussie bloggers, I have added a few to my list too. BTW, if you thought Scorpio as scary, check out Aries – we don’t look good on paper at all!!

  5. I’m an ENFJ and a Scorpio. I love the vengence thoughts (although rarely do I put them into action) but I get more fun from disclosure than keeping secrets. Although, my CRPS was a secret in the online world for 3 years before I started my blog (didn’t want to hurt my chances if I became undisabled applied for a new aquarium job). Scorps get a bad rap. NFs and NTs rock! What the heck is wrong with an ENTJ? (I was only slightly more F than T).

    • We did the Myers Briggs as a work team building exercise. It was actually really helpful as we all better understand how we interact and communicate.
The other ENTJ personality also reacted with denial, it’s got some hard core traits I guess. Upon reflect ion we realised tgat we did behave in those wats but modified many behaviours. It’s apparently unusual in women and ENTJ women can get a hard time in the workforce.

      • My sweetie is an INTP and I always get on with NTs especially well, but I guess the intellectual/logical female can be difficult for the SPs and SJs to deal with, and I’d imagine the ENTs are probably good at softening some of those sharper NT traits for the sake of getting along with others.

I dated an ENFJ Scorpio once (just like me). It was often like we were in each others’ heads!

  6. Ooh congratulations – and thank you for the nomination also!! I’m another Scorpio. We’re alright ๐Ÿ˜‰ People just need to stay on our good side! Or of course, they will feel our wrath, it’s not that difficult to comprehend. I think I’m an ENTP…

    • I downloaded the Types app and retested myself. ENTJ again! I made my husband test himself and you can use the app to compare your types and traits – it’s actually really helpful.

  7. Hello, thank you so much for nominating me! I’m very touched! I hope you’re feeling a bit more positive, it’s been a funny week for me too, hard to feel like joining in when life’s being a bit rubbish, so your post was a real pick me up. Thank you again x

  8. Thanks for the shoutout, my dear! And I loved reading your personality type – There is something so addictive and satisfying about those concise summaries of who you are! (And yes, I went straight off to do a test myself!)

Hope this is a better week!

    • Those personality tests can be a little confronting. I was in denial about not being an introvert “but I love being at home by myself sewing! I must be an introvert” I complained at work. “Yes Lizzy and you blog about it and tell the world!” … ah well I guess that’s true LOL
I hope you have a better week too ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Yeah, my test results were much more moderate than I ever would have expected… I thought I was more introverted and empathetic, but perhaps teaching has made me a hard-ass! Sometimes it hard to reconcile who you think you are/were with who you’ve become! (Also: Internet tests are not all that accurate, I assume!)

  9. Third time trying to leave a comment…. :S
Congratulations on the awards! and thank you for those kind words about my blog ๐Ÿ™‚
I sure hope you are having a better week this week.

    • How funny – my blogging hero was spat out by my spam filter! So unjust. That’s weird – if you are having problems with WordPress blogs I think it must have to do with the Akismet spam filter…. odd!

  10. Oh congratulation on your shiny new awards! Nicely done :o)

On the walnut front I’m kinda with you … they don’t gross me out but I carefully pick out every last bit if I find them in my food…. Tuna? Canned stuff is not nice unless there’s nothing else to eat. I mean NOTHING. lol

  12. I’m so behind the times! Thanks so much for my award!! The awesome Melbourne stitcher that organises the social sewing days is Rachel from My Messings, though – I’m not as organised as her! ๐Ÿ˜€

Thanks for the great list of new people to follow too. My daily sewing reading is growing at a rapid pace!

    • LOL I will have to fix that up, my life has been rather… well horrendous… and then creating all those links and ping backs must have blown my final gasket. I kept doing little bits of that post and then it just makes no sense in the end!
